What does assessment-led treatment involve?

Your appointment begins with a discussion of your symptoms, relevant medical history and how the problem affects daily life.

Phil then uses hands-on assessment and movement checks to explore areas that may be contributing to your discomfort. Assessment may include areas beyond your back, depending on the findings.

Gentle Bowen techniques are applied where appropriate, followed by reassessment to check your response. These findings help guide the next step, including whether further treatment or advice from another professional would be appropriate.

Some clients come to Hands On after trying physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage or other approaches without finding the lasting improvement they hoped for.

That history is useful information. Phil will discuss what has helped, what hasn’t and what you would like to improve.

I was recommended to try the Bowen Therapy by Phil for relief of backpain I have had for 12 months. I have had numerous Physio and Chiro appointments over this period with some relief but no cure.

One Bowen treatment from Phil and the pain was dramatically reduced to the point I was able to walk long distances, up and down hill. I have had 2 more sessions since then and no longer have shoulder or hip pain.

I don't fully understand how this treatment works but it was brilliant for me.

No. You can contact us to discuss your symptoms and whether an appointment is suitable. Bowen assessment does not replace medical diagnosis or any investigations you may need.

How many appointments will I need?

This varies. Treatment decisions are guided by your response and reassessment rather than a promise of a fixed number of sessions. If you are not improving, Phil will discuss the next steps with you.

Can I attend if I have already had physiotherapy or chiropractic treatment?

Yes. Tell Phil about previous and ongoing care, including any advice or exercises you have been given. Where appropriate, he may recommend that you seek or continue care with another professional.
